| Minaret now comes with imaging. You know that Minaret is the highly regarded and
flexible software for managing archives, libraries and museums. But did you know that
Minaret can now link crisp, color images to any Minaret database record? Press a button,
and your collections will come to life. Imaging will make your holdings, especially those
that are rare or fragile, more accessible. What's more, you can print out a copy of an
image along with a custom description of it. So share the wealth - your printed images can
be faxed around the world or handed to your colleague next door. Did you ever think that
managing your collections could be so much fun? And affordable too. The imaging system is
included with the MS-DOS version of Minaret.

| To load images onto your computer, use the scanner and scanning software of your choice.
You can save your images in any of these formats: GIF, PCX, TIF, TGA, BMP and even JPG.
Minaret can read them all!

| At a minimum you will need a VGA monitor which supports 256 colors (or shades of gray).
At the high end, you can use a 24 bit (true color) VESA compatible display adapter with a
resolution of 1280 by 1040 pixels. If your computer can only display 256 colors, you will
still be able to see 24 bit color images by utilizing Minaret's expert color reduction
capabilities (provided you have enough RAM). If you are planning on working extensively
with 24 bit color images we recommend a VGA board which can display a minimum of 32,000
colors (please contact us for supported display boards).
|
| The minimum computer requirements when using the imaging features of Minaret are an IBM
PC or 100% compatible computer with 640K of RAM (which is not enough memory for color
reduction) and lots of hard disk space (each image can use anywhere from 20K to over a
megabyte of disk space depending on the number of colors, resolution and file format you
choose). We recommend an 80386 or higher processor with four megabytes of RAM, a huge hard
disk and a tape backup. Depending on the number of images you are planning to store, you
may want to consider some form of optical storage.
|
| The basic Minaret software works with any ASCII printer. To print out black and white
copies of your images, however, you will need one of the following printers: a Hewlett
Packard LaserJet, DeskJet or compatible; a Canon Bubble Jet or compatible; or an Epson 24
pin dot matrix. You can also print color images if you have a Hewlett Packard color
DeskJet or Canon color Bubble Jet printer. Please contact us for model numbers to confirm
that a particular printer is supported.
