| Minaret is the extremely flexible and highly regarded software package for managing
diverse collections in archives, libraries and museums. Over the past nine years Minaret
has been purchased by more than 350 institutions, both large and small. We know how to
make our customers happy with software that's ready to use right out of the box, but also
flexible enough to be extensively modified without any programming. That's right, you can
change all of Minaret's screens, reports and field definitions to suit your institution's
needs. And data entry is not only easy but almost foolproof. Names, places and subject
terms are automatically checked for validity against lists that you create as you go
along. |
|
| The MS-DOS/Windows version of Minaret includes built-in imaging support. Now you can
link crisp, color images to any Minaret database record. Press a button, and your
collections will come to life. Imaging will make your holdings, especially those that are
rare or fragile, more accessible. What's more, you can print out a copy of an image along
with a custom description of it. |
|
| Although Minaret is a MS-DOS program, it runs exceptionally well under Microsoft Windows
3.1 and higher. In fact, we recommend that you use Minaret with Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000
as the program runs substantially faster than under other configurations. We provide a
set of icons that allow you to access Minaret directly from Windows. The software runs in
both full screen mode and in a window, and takes advantage of Window's cut and paste features.
Please note that Minaret does not run properly under Windows XP.
We recommend any prior version of Windows. |
|
| Minaret is Year 2000 compliant which means you won't have any problems with dates after 1999. |
|
| Minaret can output reports in HTML format for uploading to a World Wide Web server on
the Internet. |
|
| Minaret, running on a personal computer, can manage hundreds of thousands of objects.
Each database field can hold an equivalent of 65 typewritten pages and record size is only
limited by how much memory is available to the program. |
|
| Minaret comes with a detailed manual that will help you with everything from installing
the software (actually, Minaret practically installs itself) to customizing the system to
suit your needs. Plenty of illustrations and an expanded tutorial make the software easy
to learn. |
|
| You'll keep your options open with Minaret's powerful import and export capabilities
using either ASCII or MARC. This means that if your records are already in a database you
won't have to re-enter them. It also opens up a world of possibilities for sending your
data to other institutions. |
|
| Minaret runs under MS-DOS and Window in both stand-alone and networked
configurations. The program costs $2000 per user and has built-in networking and imaging
capabilities. Each copy includes an hour of telephone support. In the future, you won't
have to purchase an expensive maintenance contract. You just buy support as you need it. |
